As Concord flops, Sony exec says company doesn't have enough original IP

There are currently no plans to make Sonic Adventure 3 and continue the Sonic series from the Dreamcast days.
Sonic Team boss Takashi Iizuka was interviewed by VGC and discussed the possibility of continuing the series, as well as a return of its much loved Chao Garden.
Iizuka acknowledged the requests for the Chao Garden to make a return, but noted “it’s part of the whole Sonic Adventure series game”.

If you, like me, have been wondering just how Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures were going to approach a live-action Minecraft movie, I have good news for you. We now have our first good look at the upcoming adaptation, known simply as A Minecraft Movie, thanks to a new trailer.

Ex-Blizzard president Mike Ybarra believes “consoles will never die” and that failing companies are pushing “the narrative that fits for them”.
Ybarra replied to comments on X comparing Sony’s focus on exclusivity and Microsoft’s multiplatform approach for Xbox games.
“If your strategy is to win the living room, you need exclusive hits because winning is both a platform and games perspective,” said Ybarra. “Sony knows how to make hits, and how to pick the hits from others to be exclusive. If I was them I would double down right now because the blood in the water is all over the place.”

UPDATE 27/08/24: Following last week’s reports of a MySims remaster for Switch, EA and Nintendo have made it official. EA’s fondly remembered life sim series comes to Switch in a two-game bundle – officially titled the MySims Cozy Bundle – on 19th November.

The MySims Cozy Bundle is set to feature EA’s original 2007 MySims, as previously reported, but it turns out there’s a little bit more to the whole thing. Purchasers will also get to play their way through 2008’s MySims Kingdom – which transplanted the original’s village-sim-style gameplay to a medieval-style setting – when it shows up this November.

Voice actress Jennifer Hale has discussed the impact of AI as part of the current SAG-AFTRA voice actors strike, describing it as a hammer that can “smash your skin and destroy who you are.”

Hale is well known for her video game work, including games like Mass Effect (Shepard), Metal Gear Solid (Naomi Hunter), and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (Rivet).

“AI is coming for all of us,” Hale said in a new interview with Variety. “Because the truth is, AI is just a tool like a hammer. If I take my hammer, I could build you a house. I can also take that same hammer and I can smash your skin and destroy who you are.”

Ubisoft has offered PS5 players who were advised to restart Star Wars Outlaws in order to avoid progression-breaking bugs a peace offering in the form of… a trinket and some Ubisoft Connect currency.
As we reported yesterday, Ubisoft recently emailed some PlayStation 5 players asking them to update their copy of Outlaws to the latest version, following a chunky bug-busting patch. Players should then start a completely new save, Ubisoft said, as they would likely be unable to progress fully in their current save.
This was, understandably, not particularly well received by players who had begun playing on an earlier version of the game – including those who paid more to get early access, and had already invested several hours into it.

Gearbox founder Randy Pitchford has admitted his long-term hopes for Epic were “misplaced or overly optimistic”, having previously predicted Steam could become a “dying store”.
For a bit of context, back in 2019, Pitchford wrote a lengthy post on social media discussing Gearbox’s decision to make Borderlands 3 on PC a timed Epic exclusive. At this time, the exec said he believed Epic’s “investment in technology will outpace Valve’s substantially”, and went on to suggest Steam could fizzle out and other store fronts would reign supreme.
Fast forward now to earlier this week, when Gearbox revealed Borderlands 4. The next series instalment is currently slated for a 2025 release across PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Epic and… Steam. Needless to say, this revelation…
